Full resume.

Hi,

My name is Laura.

I’m a freelance Multimedia Journalist based in the West Midlands with a passion for telling human interest stories.

What I do

I work predominantly in radio at the moment, but I’d eventually like to be producing factual and current affairs documentaries – perhaps a brummy version of Stacey Dooley?

I’ve also worked as a researcher and production runner, had my own drive-time show on community radio and I’ve done some television presenting for a local TV news programme.

Early career

My journalism career began with writing for my student newspaper during my undergraduate degree in Liverpool. It was during this time that I also secured some work with ITV Shiver Productions in Leeds as a researcher and production runner.

I graduated with a first-class degree in English Literature and I went on to achieve my MA in Multiplatform and Mobile Journalism (BJTC Accredited). My MA was a fast-paced and incredibly eye-opening initiation into the world of Journalism – one of the peaks being travelling to Perugia for the International Journalism Festival where I met media professionals from all over the World.

More about me

I love where I live – Birmingham is so rich in diversity and culture and it’s brimming with stories to tell. I also love to travel and I’ve been lucky enough to take some time away from my career to go backpacking around Southeast Asia. When I’m not working or thinking about my next adventure, I enjoy yoga, reading and getting outdoors with my crazy cockapoo!
